The Dream Team Returns

Surprisingly, this is not a sequel to the epic 1989 Michael Keaton movie.
Thursday was a big day for USA Basketball. After being humiliated out of the 2002 world championships and 2004 Athens Olympics, Team USA debuted their new look team to the world against a Puerto Rico team that bitch slapped them in 2004. The results were alarming, for the world. The Jerry Colangelo/Mike Krzyzewski concoction shook off some early jitters and promptly punted Puerto Rico to the moon and back, 114-69.
Instead of being turned down by the NBA elite and then having to slap together a bunch of fogeys to try and make a team at the last second, Jerry Co and Coach K have enlisted a faction of young NBA studs, eager to show the world that basketball in the US isn’t dead, it was just napping. LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Paul were among the young stars that tore up the 51st state’s team. Wade providing the biggest highlight of the night with a full windmill
jam on a breakaway dunk and then turning to salute some Air Force members who were seated in the crowd.
So, cue the Hulk Hogan music and run for your lives. I think I feel a “USA USA USA” chant coming on.
