Distant Asteroid Named For Myron Cope

In today's WTF department, a scientist named Dr. Eric Mamajek received approval from the International Astronomical Union recently to name a 3-mile wide asteroid after the late Steelers' announcer, Myron Cope. The celestial body in question, or more specifically, minor planet, is in orbit around the sun between Mars and Jupiter, between 88 and 387 million miles from Earth in some kind of crazy elliptical pattern.
How crazy would it be if Earth was obliterated by an asteroid named Myroncope? It would be akin to the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man rampaging through New York City, only life as we know it would be extinguished by a giant rock screaming Yiddish nonsense at us. There's another high-concept joke here somewhere involving the punchline "Astronomical!". I'm still working out the details, but it would most likely start out as something like "What are the chances Myron Cope would care if an asteroid were named after him?".
