I couldn't agree with you more on Faneca, Jack. He's still a great run blocker, but his pass protection has taken a decided turn for the worse in the past two seasons. The price that NY paid for him is way too steep.

Faneca, A great runblocker but mediocre pass blocker. I saw every steeler game in 07 and he was responsible for about 5-7 sacks from interior D-lineman. Maybe that could be getting adjusted to Mahan, but he got his butt whopped for at least 5 sacks. Most sacks come from the edge, but the steelers let alot of interior lineman sack Ben, and Faneca was a problem. I'm glad the steelers didn't give Big Red the bank. He' not worth it at age 31.
Good for Ben, he does deserve the money. Steelers could have easily had over 60 sacks given up in 2007 if it were not for Ben's strength and athleticism. He's worth the money. IN this day, you need a franchise quarterback to get to the super bowl... or in the rare case the Steelers 1974 or Ravens 2000 defense + average quarterback. But without a top tier QB, you will be one and done in the playoffs.
